About the library...
The OPES Library Media Center is a warm and welcoming place for all students, staff, and families. Our mission is twofold: to foster a love of reading in each of our students by connecting them with meaningful texts on appropriate reading levels, and to teach media literacy skills that will prepare them to live in the 21st century. This year we will read books together, learn how to evaluate information we find online, become creators as well as consumers of media, and much more!
“Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.” ― Maya Angelou |
About Mrs. Longworth...
Hi friends! My name is Jennifer Longworth. I'm a two-time graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (GO HEELS!!!) I'm in my seventh year here at OPES, and my tenth year as a school librarian. I previously worked in North Carolina for three years. I live in North Carolina with my husband, our son Theodore, our dog Kenneth, and our cat, Bitty. I absolutely love that when I come to work every day I get to make a lasting impact on my students. Connecting great books with young readers is the best job EVER! :)
